Bowling

Taniti City — Bay Lanes looks ordinary from the outside, which is part of why people keep going back.

Bay Lanes is the bowling alley everyone ends up mentioning with a grin. It has six lanes, which keeps it intimate enough that you can still hear your friends complain about their score, and the whole place works because it knows exactly what it is. The games are simple, the shoes are standard, and the snack bar is better than a bowling snack bar has any right to be. It is an easy evening, nothing fancy, but reliably fun.

Mara’s note is practical: league nights are Tuesday and Thursday, so if you want a lane, avoid those evenings. That is also when Bay Lanes feels most like a local institution rather than an attraction. The regulars know the place by heart, and the rest of the week it settles back into the sweet spot where tourists, families, and off-duty workers all end up in the same game.
